Good evening and welcome to
Void Union Airlines.
Please stand by for a quick
announcement
from our captain.
Bm
D
This is your captain,
A
Dr. Madvibe speaking.
Em
A
Now before we get into all of that
fasten your seatbelt
and make sure your tray tables
are locked up into position crap,
D
this is for those of you
Bm
D
who do a lot of extensive flying,
nationally and abroad,
Bm
and you are periodically spooked out
D
A
about putting your life in
the belly of a big steel bird,
Em
A
An d your fear of flying
is keeping you from exploring
new possibilities
Em
A
and raking in that cabbage.
D
Let's get rid of that fear
of flying right now
Bm
and deal with the hand
D
G
that fate's got waiting for us.
Bm
G
D
Here I am sitting on an other airplane.
Bm
A
D
Each time I sit on a plane
I roll the dice of my life,
Em
G
hoping I won't get to paradise
but just to my next destination.
A
A week ago from today
from when my pen hit this page,
D
A plane full of people
went crashing down into a
Bm
fiery rage.
A
Nobody lived.
Em
Everybody died.
A
I wonder what the look
on everybody's face
Em
was like when the plane in the air
A
did a swivel and a pike and skeletons
D
and freedom flew wacky and wild
and life for them if we knew
Bm
D
it was in denial.
That's right.
I'm scared of planes now
A
more than ever before.
The fear of hitting the ground
in an air is no more.
I got a window seat this time
Em
as opposed to an aisle seat
A
D
So that I can see the big,
talky, jet engine wing
hanging from underneath the
Bm
D
wing that looks too heavy
for the wing to hold up in the first place
C
as we sit here at the gate.
Em
With fear, I say, with fear,
A
I'm trembling at the thought of this airplane
Em
being held up thousands of miles
A
D
in the air that weighs multiple tons,
built by imperfect human beings
G
that makes mistakes all the time.
Bm
G
Hell, man, what if there's a smudge
or a ping
D
or a scratch on the wing?
Bm
D
Or what if there is some faulty wiring that somebody
G
has disconnected from the engine to the gas line
and one of the mechanics
A
forgot to reconnect it again.
And the only one that is paying attention
G
Em
G
to this act of incompet ence is me.
D
Hell man, if this plane was built
by a god or an angel,
Bm
G
Em
I wouldn't have to sit in my seat
G
thinking of all this scariness.
A
Who knows man,
we probably have wings on our backs
D
like all of the rest of the advanced ghosts
or upper scale human beings.
Bm
A
Then we wouldn't need any planes,
Em
A
we'd just fly over the range ourselves.
So real, like Salvador Dali
and natural -born killers,
D
or Samson being tempted by Delilah
while trying to hold up
Bm
the pillars of the temple.
G
I feel like an ant, real insignificant.
D
Bm
D
Oh, this feeling of betrayal,
oh, like brimstone and hail,
G
when the truth is supposed to prevail,
D
G
I feel like I'm in a big steel casket
with wings on it,
A
trying to get close to outer space.
G
Now here comes the runway now.
We're about three planes in line.
D
Well, it's our turn.
It feels pretty neat
G
when a plane pulls me back into the seat.
The takeoff process is down the runway,
A
and soon the friendly skies we will meet.
D
Well, here we are,
off into the wild blue yonder
A
where the angels fly and cruise.
I hope we make it there alive
so I can read this to you.
Em
A
This is your captain, Dr. MadBob.
D
We hope you enjoyed your flight.
Outro 1
See you next time.
