The story is told of a young man
who was preparing for a long trip.
He told his friend, I am just about packed.
I only have to put in a guidebook, a mirror,
a microscope, a lamp, a telescope,
a volume of fine poetry,
a package of old letters,
a few biographies,
a book of songs, a sword,
a hammer,
and a set of books I've been studying.
But you can't get all that into
your bag,"
said his friend.
Oh, yes, I can, he replied.
It doesn't take much room.
With that, he placed his Bible
in the corner of his suitcase
and closed the lid.
Tempted and tried,
we're oft made to wonder
Why it should be thus all the day long,
While there are others living about us,
Never molested, though in the wrong.
Farther along we'll know all about it,
Farther along we'll understand why.
Cheer up, my brother,
live in the sunshine,
We'll understand it all by and by.
When we see Jesus coming in glory,
When He comes from His
home in the sky,
Then we shall meet him in that bright mansion,
We'll understand it all,
Farther along we'll know all about it,
Farther along we'll understand why.
Cheer up my brother,
live in the sunshine
We'll understand it, all by and by
