About a month or two ago
I wandered down to Mexico
The land of love and pretty señoritas
Just across from Rio Grande
Where the soil's a little sandy
I met and fell in love with
sweet Chiquita
Darkest eyes and blackest hair
I met her on the public square
Selling grapes and pears and fake bananas
I told her I'd come many miles
To play my music bluegrass style
That I'd like a date with her mañana
And she said, si, si,
if you play bluegrass for me
Just like that lady back in sunny Tennessee
So that night with guitar in hand
I sat in with the local band and
We had a bluegrass fiesta
The night was warm,
the stars were bright
Love and music filled the night
The streets were filled with
dancing senoritas
Rancho brandy, bluegrass style
Then I saw my sweetheart smile
I knew I had won my sweet Chiquita
Love was really in the air
Guitar's here, fiddle's there
Then as bold as I could be
I said, Chiquita, marry me
Make me happy, one Americano
And she said, Si, si,
if you'll play bluegrass for me
Just like they played it back
in sunny Tennessee
So I took her by the hand
And took off across the Rio Grande
Thanks to a bluegrass fiesta www
