Verse 1
D
There's to you man. Thank you.
Welcome to island time.
Island time.
Water people.
I love water people
because they take their time, man.
You get it when you get it. Right?
I'll bring my first special guest up
before it is time for him to go to bed.
Come here, buddy.
Come on, buddy. It's your turn.
This is Willie.
Mommy gets you set up over there,
buddy.
And he is not named after Willie Nelson,
and he is named after Willie Braun
from Reckless Kelly.
Say hi. Hi.
We call him Bug
because he's cute as one.
What's your shirt say?
What's it say?
Whose shirt is that?
It's Dirk's.
So I'll tell this story real quick.
you me tell a story?
Is that okay?
You got time? Okay. Never know.
Muzzy Braun told me today,
he said you never, the Braun dad,
he said you never involve children
or animals in entertainment.
So you got four kids dude
that are in bands.
Obviously he was laying
on the sarcasm pretty thick.
But God, when Ragweed split,
I had this moment of,
what'd you say?
When Ragweed split,
A
D
I had this moment of like
two days
where I didn't know what I was gonna do.
It was like, yeah, I've
been doing this same thing
for 16 years,
I've known these guys forever,
I don't know what to do.
It's just scary,
it's like getting the rug pulled out
G
from under you, you know?
D
And then I talked to Jeremy,
our bass player,
my brother -in -law, my best friend,
one of my best friends
since I was about six,
and I said, what are we gonna do?
And he goes, well, we're gonna get a rock band together,
that's what we're gonna do.
So that was over,
you know.
Panic for two hours, I can handle that.
But I got to a point
where I hadn't written a song in like a year,
or even collaborated with anybody.
And I always call two people
when the chips are down.
Two people that I admire
more than anybody in music,
and one is Robert Earl Keene.
And the other is the fabulous train wreck himself,
Mr. Todd Snyder.
And those are my kind of people.
My wife,
Shannon, and I have always said
that we want our careers to be like Robert's,
you know?
I mean, there's ups and there's downs,
but we always want to be
respected
and be stable, you know?
And I think we've kept it going.
and I called Robert
and I said uh man you know I'm
in a spot
I haven't uh
I haven't written a song in a
while
and I'm kind of scared
for the first time in a while
E
D
I'm scared I don't know what to do
I think it's been I get is right it's like well
I know that thank you thanks for the help
Bob love you buddy well
then I called Todd
and I said the same thing.
And I said, man, I'm in a spot.
Can't write. It's been a while.
And he goes, man, I tell you what,
why don't you get a big bag
of weed
and come out to East Nashville
and let's write some music.
A
D
And I well, I've already tried that.
So then I called home
and I talked to Dierks, my oldest boy.
And he goes, and in his words,
and they're, you know, they're sponges,
you know, he goes, why are you so blue, Daddy?
And I'll never forget that.
And I said, well,
because I haven't written a song in
and it's kind of getting to me, know, this is what I do for a living,
and if we want to go to Disneyland,
the daddy needs to
write some songs.
Because I want to go to Disneyland.
And he goes, well,
I think it's really unfair
that you wrote a song for me
and you haven't
written a song for my brother yet.
So right there on the corner of Bill Clinton Avenue in Little Rock,
Arkansas, this song was born
because of that phone call.
G
and I was actually in the middle of
promoting a record
D
and there was a bunch of
interviews and stuff
and I blew them all off
because that's fun this is Buggy's tune.
You ready?
Two hundred and fifty thousand
G
things to do today
A
D
A
I only got room for two
D
I guess I'll look the
G
A
other way
D
There's nothing I can't undo
G
There's the ones that say
D
they gotta be on time
G
D
Friday afternoon paper deadlines
G
D
I sure hate to let them down
E
But we'll catch up
G
A
when the circus comes around
D
And I know last week
G
A
I said we'd be together
D
A
D
Then I had to fly
A
D
Today, my boy,
G
A
don't matter what the weather
D
Today you are the sky
G
D
G
There's times I know you think
that I'm not there
D
G
D
But the one that stands beside
G
D
G
D
you knows I'm
G
D
And I'll never let you down,
cause you'll be there
E
A
when the circus comes to town.
D
Hey that's okay, they all can wait,
G
A
D
A
D
cause baby, we got things to do.
A
D
The wine will flow,
G
A
the wheels will roll on Sunday
D
G
Today's your brother and you
A
D
A
D
G
A
D
G
D
G
There's times I know you think
D
that I'm not there
G
D
But the one that stands above
G
D
you knows I'm everywhere
G
D
And I'm rollin' into town
E
A
Last night the circus tent came down
D
G
250 ,000 things to do today
A
D
A
D
I only got room for you
D
applause
I'm waiting for the day
the day it's gonna happen
I know it
I'm waiting for the day
when Shannon comes
and ask us
D
you know what I found in their room
It's a bag of pot.
I've been looking for that.
