This is my celebration of home,
or at least I should say where I grew up,
which was Waukesha, Wisconsin.

And nearby was Manuka Park.
I would ride my bike out there as a kid
and drive my car out there as an adult.

I had brought the guitar out.
This was in autumn.
Walked out to a field

and plunked myself down
with the guitar

and just started to write,

find a tuning that fit the scene.
Em
I came up with that little start
and began to write.
The piece sat unfinished
for almost a year
until the next fall.
I went back into the woods
there again in a different spot
and wrote the of
it for the most part.
What I see when I'm playing this piece,
today even,

I look up and I'm seeing the trees,

just the splendor of the colors
and the leaves falling down,

especially this part.
And I never grow tired of that.
